I’m sure there will be many more events in Chesire and I’ll add them as the details are released over the next few months so save this page and keep coming back. Lanterns and light at Chester Zoo – tickets for 2024 on sale now
When – 17th November – 31st December 2023
This year Chester zoo has joined up with Soy music to create whole new captivating light installations. Be transported into enchanting lands filled with colour and festivity, where you can meet orangutans, lions, dolphins and woolly mammoths as you make your way along the trail! Wonder at the colour-changing displays stretching as far as the eye can see, while birds and stars adorn the zoo’s winding paths and trees. Take a walk through the spectacular Winter Cathedral tunnel of lights and even catch a glimpse of Father Christmas in his sleigh.

Christmas at Bolesworth, Chester – no details yet for 2024

As dusk falls this dog-friendly Christmas Lights Trail comes to life and becomes the most dazzling winter illuminations event in Cheshire and beyond. Bolesworth is bathed in seasonal colour, our beautiful grounds lit with thousands of stunning lights and effects, projections and interactive installations creating an unforgettable seasonal experience for children and grown-ups alike.
There is also a fairground, festive food and drink and reindeer. You can add on ice skating and/or Santa’s grotto.

Cost – £7 per ticket
With festive lighting and illuminated walkways, get into the festive spirit with a wander through the Upper Gardens with friends and family. Keep an eye out for Mrs Claus preparing the sleigh for Christmas Eve, and little ones, don’t forget to pick up your reindeer food ready for the big day.
Tickets include entry and hot drink for adults. And for children tickets include entry, reindeer food and child size hot drink.

A blend of festive light trail and wondrous winter festival, create a new winter family tradition on this glittering winter adventure!

BeWILDerwood presents Christmas – No details yet for 2024

BeWILDerwood held it’s first-ever Christmas light trail last year. It was full of beautifully handmade decorations, sparkly lights, Christmas cheer and of course the curious characters of BeWILDerwood made an appearance. There was also a mini pantomime, again with a magical BeWILDerwood twist.

Meet up with friends and family, pick up your song sheet, and join us for this much-loved event in the twinkling Stableyard. Sing-along to Christmas classics and favourites with the King Edward Musical Society Band and choir.

Be swept away on a wonderful adventure through iconic scenes from the Wizard of Oz, transformed and brought to life within the grandeur of Tatton Park’s historic mansion.
As you wander through the beautifully decorated staterooms, each corner turned will reveal a new surprise, from the exciting adventure following the Yellow Brick Road to tthe sparkling Emerald City, all adorned in beautiful festive decorations.
Whether you’re a fan of Dorothy, have a soft spot for the Scarecrow, or you’re intrigued by the Wicked Witch, there’s something here to capture the hearts of visitors of all ages.

Christmas at the Zoo events will consist of a 30 minute zoo tour where you will get to meet some of our animals and hear all about them headed up by our fabulous Zoo Rangers!
You will then head over to the zoo’s on-site Education Centre, where you will design your own cardboard bauble which will be placed on the zoo’s Christmas tree.
Please note: Parental supervision is required at all times. Suitable for toddlers upwards.

A festive tale with Emma the elf, Chester Cathedral – No details yet for 2024
When – 4th – 20th December 2023
Hear the newest enchanting tale of ‘Awesome Anselm’ this Christmas. The festive tale imaginatively brings to life a medieval carving of a mouse which can be found in our Cathedral Quire. This event will take place in the magical setting of the Chapter House, adorned with a dozen Christmas trees, and is suitable for children aged 5-7.
The story telling will last approximately 30 minutes, after which children will receive their own copy of ‘Awesome Anselm and St Werburgh’s Geese’. There will then be a short, optional tour around the Cathedral to visit some of the characters from the story.
