Toddler days out North West

Here in the North West we have loads of great family days out but you might be wondering which are the best places for toddlers. If so then this is the right post for you as I’ll be sharing the best toddler days out North West as well guides to loads more ideas for each specific county in the north West of England. The Forestry England Julia Donaldson trails are great for toddlers. There are two in the Lake District, 1 in Lancashire and 1 in Cheshire. Find out more here – Gruffalo party trails North West.

Things to do in Manchester with a toddler

In Greater Manchester we have some National Trust properties that are great for toddlers. At Dunham Massey you can enjoy a flat walk where you are pretty much guaranteed to see deer. Lyme park is another local National Trust you might consider. The adventure playground is fantastic for kids of all ages and it does have equipment suitable for toddlers.

​Legoland discovery centre Manchester is also worth a visit especially if you have older kids with you too. Sea life Manchester is great for young children. Aquariums are great sensory experiences for young children and where else can toddlers see sharks? Both of these attractions are located in the Trafford Centre.

The Whitworth art gallery has lots for young children including art baby (sensory play sessions) and outdoor art club.

Things to do in Cheshire with a toddler

You might not instantly think of theme parks as being great day trips for toddlers but Gulliver’s world Warrington is great fun for little ones.

Chester zoo is another amazing animal experience for families. It’s not cheap though but toddlers get ​free entry until they are 3 years old. If sea life is more appealing to you then check out Blue Planet aquarium near Chester.

Cheshire Ice Cream farm is a fantastic for kids. There is plenty of great things for toddlers including soft play and a huge indoor sand and water play area, great for rainy days.

Things to do in Lancashire with a toddler

There’s loads for the whole family to enjoy in Lancashire. Young children particularly an enjoy indoor play area and there are some great ones in Lancashire including the Gruffalo and friends clubhouse.

There are also lots of farms in Lancashire that are perfect for younger children. You’ll get to see lots of animals and usually there are outdoor play areas and sometimes indoor soft play areas. In school holidays there are often special events for toddlers and older children too.

​Another great place to visit with toddlers in Lancashire is Billy Bob’s Preston. The outdoor play area is especially good for this age group.

Things to do in Liverpool with a toddler

There are loads of free museums in Liverpool that are great for kids. The World Museum is perfect for toddlers with interactive exhibits including a bug house, a planetarium and more.

Knowsley Safari Park is a great family day out with toddlers. There are soft play centres too and outdoor activities too where you can pack a picnic and make a full day of it in the fresh air. Speke Hall National Trust is a particular favourite of ours.

Things to do in Lake District with a toddler

The Lake District is one of my favourite places to visit. Windermere is home to the world of Beatrix Potter where Peter Rabbit fans will have loads of fun. There’s a cafe too and they often have afternoon tea events where you can meet Peter Rabbit.
