BeWILDerwood Cheshire Easter event

On Good Friday we went along to BeWILDerwood Cheshire Easter event. We’ve been to BeWILDerwood before and think it is a fantastic family day out so we were excited to see their Easter event. Find more Easter events North West here.

BeWILDerwood Cheshire is a great family attraction and they run fantastic holiday events at Easter, Halloween and Christmas. We’ve been to their Christmas event but not the Easter event before.

We arrived for just after opening time and stayed until around 4pm. It was a lot quieter from 3pm onwards but busier earlier in the day. It never felt too busy though.

When you arrive you are given wrist bands so that you can go back to your car any time you like such as to collect a picnic. You will also be given a paper map and small Easter trail sheet and pencil. After this you are straight into the attraction and free to explore for as long as you like.

Here’s what to expect from the Easter event in 2024

Easter trail

As I mentioned above you are given a paper trail sheet and pencil as you arrive. There are 6 letters to find around the attraction and if you find all the letters to spell out a word, you’ll get a small badge as you leave BeWILDerwood.

For Easter they have added a few Easter egg and bunny decorations to the already magical woodland decorations. The map has illustrations that will help you find all the letters but I’m also sure you’ll spot them naturally as you walk around the attraction.

There is an outdoor storytelling stage at BeWILDerwood which is one of the highlights of any trip. There are 2 different shows on each day and these are both repeated so you have 2 chances to see each show. They last about 20 minutes.

We caught the Easter show “The Pesky Bunnies” which was really fun. There is a storyteller and various puppets on the brightly coloured stage. You can expect a short story with puppets and lots of audience participation.

I did wonder if our eldest would be too old (10 years old) but she seemed to love it as much as our seven year old. They clapped along, joined in the singing and shouting out when they spotted the bunnies.

BeWILDerwood do a great job at keeping kids of all ages engaged and entertained during these short shows and we loved the Easter show. Make sure you plan to catch the show during your visit.

Why not head over to the Big Hat (a large teepee) and let the kids make a pair of bouncing bunny ears? This was open for most of the day.

All craft materials are provided and we were grateful of somewhere to hide from a rain shower. The kids loved making their own bunny ears and then wearing them around for the rest of the day.

What else to expect at BeWILDerwood

As well as all the Easter activities above you can also meet the Easter bunny at selected times throughout the day, enjoy all the play equipment at BeWILDerwood and there is an additional storytelling session “A Boggle at BeWILDerwood”.

If you’re not familiar with BeWILDerwood then you’re in for a treat as it is one giant adventure playground that your kids will love.

There are huge slides, zip wires and lots of different wooden structures built around the trees. There are mazes (we’re talking multi-level climbing frames over large areas) with lots of different obstacles. These include different types of bridges, balancing areas, nets to climb, tunnels, ladders and more.

There are a few areas specifically for toddlers but they’ll also manage many of the other areas with your support.

Our verdict

We loved our visit to BeWILDerwood Cheshire for their Easter event. We have been to BeWILDerwood before and already knew we would love it.

If you have been to BeWILDerwood before then the Easter event is basically like your standard magical day at BeWILDerwood but with a fantastic Easter spin on it.

All your family favourites are there like playing on all the play frames, crafts and the fantastic storytelling stage and they’ve all had an Easter theme added. Even the clues in the sky maze have been replace with Easter ones.

Be prepared for all weathers. Make sure you have waterproof coats and even trousers if the weather is wet. There are no indoor areas at BeWILDerwood, even the cafe seating is outdoors. There are a few places with some shelter such as over the theatre seating, the craft teepees and there is some canopies in the picnic areas.
At the moment I’d recommend wearing wellies (adults as well) as there is quite a bit of mud and puddles due to all the recent rain! In places paths are completely puddles. Kids love it but don’t where your favourite white trainers.
Snap a picture of the events sign at the entrance so that you can remember what time the storytelling, meet and greets and crafting sessions are on. The details are also on the back of your Easter trail.
You can take your own food and there are plenty of picnic benches. There are also a couple of kiosks to buy food with some hot and cold options available. They also serve drinks, sweet treats and ice creams.
I can recommend the ice cream, it’s made by Snugburys and I have the BeWILDerwood exclusive which is chocolate with caramel and honeycomb pieces.
If you want to see both the storytelling shows, meet the Easter Bunny and do the crafting as well as play on all the equipment, make a plan for which sessions you will attend.
Expect to be climbing on the giant frames yourself. We did wait at the bottom of some of them but the kids enjoyed showing us round and particularly in the mazes, wanted our help to find all the feathers or the way out.
There are toilets at the entrance and a further 2 sets in the woodland near picnic/food kiosk areas. They were always clean when we visited. There are also disabled toilets with baby changing facilities.
If you want somewhere quiet to breastfeed, try the nursing nook.
No dogs are allowed.
Prams and pushchairs can be taken around BeWILDerwood. The paths are wide and flat but this Easter there is a lot of mud and puddles so if you can manage without it, I would leave it in the car.
