Tips for visiting PYO farms
If you are visiting a PYO farm then here are a few tips to make your trip enjoyable.
- Wear sensible shoes. Remember you are on a working farm so the ground will be uneven and it may even be muddy especially if there has been a lot of rain recently.
- Check the weather forecast before you leave. It’s no fun picking fruit in heavy rain!
- Wear suncream. If you are lucky to get a sunny day, don’t forget to protect everyone from the sun with hats, sunglasses and suncream.
- Think about the clothes you and your children are wearing. For instance, white might not be a good idea as you may get berry juice on them.
- Visit your chosen farms’ social media pages to check their opening times and that they still have crops left for picking.
- Leave the pushchair at home. Fruit-picking fields are rarely suitable for pushchairs (unless your chosen farm says otherwise).
- Most farms do not allow dogs so I’d recommend you check if you need to take yours with you.
- Check if you need to pay by cash or card. Some farms may not have the ability to take card payments out in the fields.
