Halloween walks North West 2025

If you’re looking for a spooky walk across the North West this October, I have some great ideas for you. There are loads of Halloween walks North West in 2025 to choose from. There are free and low cost options. This post is part of my series of posts on Halloween events North West.

Blakemere Halloween trail – 2025 details

Where: Blakemere village, Northwich CW8 2EB

Summary: Wander through the enchanted woodland trail, solve creepy clues, and encounter mysterious characters along the way.

Halloween half-term fun at Quarry Bank – details for 2025

Where: Quarry Bank Mill, Styal

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Cost: Included in admission cost, free for NT members.

Summary: Halloween trail around the Upper Garden. Spooky trail around the Mill. There are also Spooky tours of the Apprentice House. Enjoy Halloween themed crafts in the Learning Space. (Offered Monday to Friday only).

Teggs Nose country park Halloween trail – Details for 2025

Where: Buxton old road, Macclesfield

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Cost: Purchase a map from The Nose Coffee inside the Tegg’s Nose Visitor Centre, for 50p, and get searching around the top of the park. Once you’ve completed the trail come back to The Nose Coffee for 50p off your food and / or drink order.

Summary: Find the spooky visitors on posters displayed around the country park.

Brereton Heath Halloween Trail – details for 2025

Where: Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve Visitor Centre, Davenport Lane, Brereton, Congleton, CW12 4SU

Pick up a map from the outside dispenser and get searching around the park for the posters.

Halloween at Seven Sisters, Knutsford – 2025 details

Where: Seven Sisters Farm Ice Cream, Knutsford, WA16 9ER

Knutsford pumpkin path 2025

Where: Knutsford town centre

When: 31st October 2025, 4-7 pm

Cost: free

Summary: Find the pumpkins hidden around the town centre in shop windows, each of which has a letter carved into it. You note down the letter on your entry forms and completed entry forms can then be posted into dedicated post boxes to enter a prize draw!

Enjoy lots of extra entertainment on the night including singing and dance performances, spooky characters available for photo opportunities, Halloween themed window displays, competitions and other activities.

Halloween trail at Ness Botanic gardens – Details for 2025

Where: Neston Road, Ness, Neston, Cheshire, CH64 4AY

When: 25th October – 3rd November 2025

Cost: free trail with standard entry fee.

Summary: There is plenty for all the family to see & a conundrum for 5-12 year olds to solve. The trail will take approximately 40 minutes to complete.

Halloween trail, Arley Hall & gardens – details for 2025

Summary: Spooky trail around the grove and woodland walk to find clues for a witch’s soup.

Skellies and Wellies in the Gardens – 2025 details

Where: Tatton park gardens, Knutsford

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Cost: Included in garden entry that is free for NT members. Vehicle parkland entry also applies

Summary: Find 10 hillarious and haunting skeleton displays around the gardens. Free activity sheet and plenty of photo opportunities.

Free Halloween trail, Congleton town centre – details for 2025

Where: collect a leaflet from the information centre or download at home

When: 25th October – 1st November 2025

Find hidden clues in shop windows. Solve the wordsearch and uncover a secret message. Return the completed trail to Congleton Information Centre to claim your reward.

Wilmslow Halloween trail – 2025 details

When: 18th October – 1st November 2025

Participants can pick up a free trail map from Waitrose or Wilmslow Library and set out on a fun-filled adventure. The trail also features 10 hidden Draculas to seek out, along with puzzles, colouring activities and a chance to win spooky prizes by submitting completed sheets at Waitrose.

Halloween walks Manchester

Halloween in the city – 2025 details

Where: across Manchester city centre

When: 25th – 31st October 2025

Cost: Free

Summary: Includes a giant rooftop Monster Invasion, a magnificent Monster Procession, and frightful fancy dress challenge, Monster rock music festival and a Carnival of Monsters.

All things Autumn at Lyme Park – details for 2025

Where: Lyme Park, Didsley

Look out for all the colours and weird and wonderful creatures that autumn has to offer, and enjoy autumn games and indoor creative activities.

Spooks’ autumn art adventure at Dunham Massey– details for 2025

Where: Dunham Massey, Woodhouse Lane, Altrincham, WA14 4SJ

Spooks the spider is spinning something spectacular – but first, they need a burst of inspiration! Join Spooks on a wander through the park, where every leaf, colour and creature could inspire their next work of art. Halloween heart trail at Fletcher Moss, Didsbury – Details for 2025

Where: Fletcher Moss Park, Didsbury

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Cost: £1 per sheet

Wicked plant trail at RHS Bridgewater – Details for 2025

When – 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Step into the world of pumpkins and discover amazing seasonal surprises dotted around the garden. Feast your eyes on a pumpkin banquet table, find giant pumpkin letters and see scarecrows showcasing different veggies used in the past for carving. It’s all gourd fun!

Diggle Scarecrow Trail – Details for 2025

When: 24th October – 2nd November 2025.

Where: Trails available from Grandpa Greene’s, The Gate inn, The Diggle Hotel and Diggle Lock

Cost: £3 a trail

Tudor tombstone trail, Ordsall Hall – 2025 details

Where: Ordsall Hall

When: 26th October – 2nd November,

£2 per child. Step into the shadows of history and discover what truly troubled the Tudors. From restless spirits, witches, and goblins to the dreaded plague. This Halloween, we’re bringing their nightmares to life with creepy characters and spooky surprises around every corner.

Heaton park Hidden Horrors trail, low cost – Details for 2025

Where: Heaton Park

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Self-guided trail and see how many hidden horrors you can find around the park.

Pick up a free checklist from the Stables Visitor Reception before 4.00pm on the 25th October to 2nd November, and don’t forget to pack a pencil.

Oldham Halloween trail – 2025 details

When: 25th October – 2nd November 2025

Where: Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre, Market and the town centre

Free event. Find the Halloween items across Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre, Market and the town centre. Post your completed form in the box near Next.

Free Altrincham’s enchanted Halloween Adventure – 2025 details

When: 24th October – 2nd November 2025

Where: Collect your Trail Sheet from Everyman Altrincham, 74-78 George St, Altrincham, WA14 1RF (10am-4pm)

Follow the trail to discover each of the ghouls, ghosts, and monsters, ticking them off your list as you go. Look out for magic words hidden at stops along the way.

Unscramble the words at the end to reveal the secret spell that will close the portal and save the town!

Halloween walks Lancashire

Xplorer at Brockholes – Details for 2025

Where: Brockholes nature reserve, just off Junction 31 of the M6, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 OAG

When: 22nd October – 9th November 2025

Cost: £4.50 if booked in advance, £5.50 on the day

Summary: Explore Brockholes, find the markers, complete the challenge and have fun together! Brought to you in partnership with British Orienteering, Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity to get the whole family outside in the fresh air together! There are certificates for those completing the challenge along with a sweet treat!

There are 2 courses available, one is pram-friendly and the markers are in number order in a circular route. The other course is more challenging and not pram-friendly. Families will need to use navigation skills to find markers across the reserve.

Halloween trail at Gawsthorpe Hall – details for 2025

Where: Gawsthorpe Hall, Burnley Road, Padiham, near Burnley, Lancashire, BB12 8UA

When: 26th October 2024

Cost: £2.50 per ticket

Summary: Are you brave enough to explore Gawthorpe Hall’s gardens and see if you find the ghosts, pumpkins, black cats and witches hiding on the Hallowe’en trail? Collect a trail sheet at the front of the Hall and set off to explore.

Pumpkin trail – Edgeside park – details for 2025

Where: Edgeside Park, Rossendale

When: 1st November 2025

Cost: free

Summary: Bring down your carved pumpkins to Edgeside Park and create a community Pumpkin Trail the day after Halloween! Enjoy this magical, torchlit experience as you wander through the pumpkins on display!

Leave your pumpkins or put them in the provided bins at the end & they will be composted.

Funky Pumpkin trail, Lancaster – details for 2025

When: 18th October – 2nd November 2025

Where: Lancaster city centre

Can you hunt down all 10 baskets of Funky Pumpkins which are hiding in the windows of businesses throughout Lancaster city centre? Find them all to enter the draw to win a £50 voucher to spend in the St Nic’s business of your choice.

Pendle Sculpture Trail

This is a great option if you want a family walk with a little bit of a Halloween theme but nothing too scary. This sculpture trail has a little Pendle witches theme but there are many more sculptures that are not Halloween themed.

This is a great trail for families but I wouldn’t recommend taking a pram or pushchair.

Halloween walks Liverpool/Wirral/Southport

Pumpkin patch trail at Gordale garden centre – details for 2025

Where: Chester High Road, Burton, South Wirral CH64 8TF

When: 18th – 31st October 2025

Cost: £4.50 per child – Includes trail sheet. No need to book, just turn up.

Set off on an adventure in search of the hidden pumpkins on the Pumpkin Trail, once you discover the secret code word you’ll be granted access to the Pumpkin Patch, where you can select your favourite pumpkin to take home.

Benty farm tea rooms pick your own pumpkins & children’s trail – Book now for 2025

Where: 3a school lane, Thurstaston, Wirral, CH61 0HH

When: Opens 11th – 26th October 2025 (weekends only)

Cost: £2.17 per adult, pumpkins charged in addition to this.

Who is Mavis Davis? whodunnit trail at Rainford farm – book now for 2025

Where: Rainfords Farm, Catchdale Moss Ln, Eccleston, Saint Helens WA10 5QG

When: Every day in October 2025 (interactive trail with actors and a different suspect and demises 28th-30th)

Cost: £5.75 Per adult or child

Put your wellies on for a spooky welly walk with a difference! Head out amongst the trees to meet our scarecrows and help us solve a mystery like no other. Follow your trail guide and solve the clues to work out the identity of Mavis Davis.

Suitable for the whole family, however it will be especially enjoyed by ages 5+

The trail should take approximately 45 mins to complete but you are welcome to take as long as you need.

No dogs.
