There’s plenty going on for kids this Halloween in the Lake District for families. Below you’ll find all the Halloween events Cumbria 2026. There are family-friendly shows, farm events featuring pumpkin carving, halloween discos and so much more. This post is part of a series of posts on Halloween events North West.
I’ve done my best to add the details of all these events accurately and keep them up to date but I strongly advise you to click through and check on the organiser’s website to ensure the dates, locations, times are correct. Events maybe changed or cancelled and I will not necessarily be aware of this. Links are providers so you can confirm all details for yourself before travelling or booking. Some of these events require pre-booking so I’d recommend you do that as soon as you decide you want to in order to avoid disappointment.
A lot of these events are already on sale but some aren’t yet so I have left last year’s details in for now.

Pumpkin picking at Walby farm park – 2026 tickets on sale now
Where: Walby, Crosby-on-Eden, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA6 4QL
When: 3rd to 31st October 2026. Including some days are for mini pickers for toddlers and preschoolers (term time weekdays).
Cost: From £13.09 per adult, £14.40 – includes entry to farm park and 1 free pumpkin for every paying child.
Summary: Also included – pumpkin carving, pumpkin cannon, indoor & outdoor adventure play, photo opportunities and meet all the adorable animals.
Twilight pumpkin picking at Walby Farm Park
27th & 28th October 2026, open until 7pm
The Pumpkin Patch will be beautifully illuminated for you to pick your own pumpkin after dark. No extra cost, just stay later these evenings.

Reds Pumpkin Patch & Maize Maze, Langwathby – details for 2026
When: 3rd -4th, 10th-11th, 17th – 18th, 24th and 25th October 2026. 10am – 3pm
Where: Langwathby, Opposite Great North Air Ambulance.
No booking, free entry, free parking. Pumpkins priced from £2 and then going up £1 per kg. Cash only.
Well-behaved dogs on leads allowed.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks will be available. Sweet and snacks available. Alpaca meet and greet.
Maize maze is back. Entry is £4 per person if you buy a pumpkin. £6 per person if you just want to do the maze. Under 2s are FREE.

Lakeland Maze Farm park – details for 2026
Where – Raines Hall, Sedgwick, Kendal
When – from 3rd October 2026.
cost – Included in entry to farm park. one pumpkin included in entry fee. Extra cost per pumpkin based on size. £12.16 per person over 2

Stephney farm pumpkin patch – book now for 2026
Where: Stephney Farm CA20 1DQ Seascale
When: 10th – 27th October 2026
Cost: £5.95 (plus booking fee) for everyone over 2 years. Additional costs for food drink, bouncy castle etc.
Summary: As well as pumpkins galore and plenty of photo opportunities there will be Halloween crafting and colouring, toddler play in the barn, bouncy castle, barrel train rides, animal barn, face painting and food and drink on sale. There will also be live family entertainment.

Muncaster family Halloween festival at Muncaster castle – book now for 2026
Where: Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass, Cumbria, CA18 1RD
When: 24th October – 1st November 2026
Cost: From £16.95 per child and £24.50 per adult. Free pumpkin with first 2500 child tickets sold.
Summary: This year’s theme is Zombie and Boggles bringing a monstrously good mix of spooky surprises, live entertainment, pumpkins, folklore and family fun to every corner of the castle.
Scare maze, castle show, pumpkin patch, castle show, live entertainment in the gardens, spooky trails, parades and much more.

Scarecaster at Muncaster Castle – book now for 2026
Where: Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass, Cumbria, CA18 1RD
When: 29th – 31st October 2026
Cost: £29.50 a ticket
Summary: This one is only for children age 16 +. Do you have the courage to confront the horrors within the scary maze? Step into the darkness – if you dare – and discover if you can survive the terror that awaits at every turn.

Halloween week at Ravenglass & Eskdale railway – book now for 2026
Where: Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Ravenglass, Cumbria, CA18 1SW
When: 24th October – 1st November 2026
Cost: £ per adult, £ per child, discounts for family tickets available
Summary: Stations and cafés are transformed with ghoulish decorations, setting the scene for a frightfully fun adventure. The Ravenglass Railway Museum also offers interactive exhibits and children’s activities. There will also be the added seasonal spectacle of ‘double-header trains’ featuring two heritage steam engines rather than the usual one.

Pumpkin carving at Allan Bank – book now for 2026
Where: Allan Bank, Grasmere, Ambleside, Cumbria, LA22 9QB
When: 25th – 31st October 2026, selected dates
Cost: £5 per child plus normal admission fee, free admission for National Trust members. Book essential
Summary: They’ll provide the pumpkins, clear out the inside, and have all the tools you need to carve them.

Twilight tales in dove cottage, Wordsworth Grasmere – book now for 2026

When: 21st – 27th October 2026
Cost: children £10, adults £5
Summary: Join the team for hot chocolate, gingerbread, and Halloween crafts in our cosy Learning Space. Children will have fun dressing up in Georgian costumes while learning about the Wordsworths and hearing some of their writing. At twilight we’ll all head over to Dove Cottage and listen to some spooky Cumbrian stories!

Little scarelings at Dobbies Garden Centre, Carlisle, book now for 2026
Where: Dobbies Carlisle, Orton Grange, Carlisle , CA5 6LB

Halloween at Holker Hall – book now for 2026
Where: Holker Estate, Cark-in-Cartmel, Nr Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, LA11 7PL
When: 30th & 31st October 2026
Cost: £12 per child plus adult garden admission. Storytelling £5 per ticket
Carve your own pumpkin, follow a ghostly trail through the Gardens, and enjoy monster crafts. Halloween themed face painting will also be available (payable on the day).
For those who dare, a special storytelling session with Storyteller Laureate Taffy Thomas will take place in the Library, where the young and young at heart will be delighted with seasonal stories from his extensive repertoire which includes: The Magical Orchard, The Princess & The Ogre, The Ghost of Grasmere Gables, The Golden Arm and The Big Red Monster. (Tickets are required for all guests attending the storytelling session, including adults and children.)

Halloween family crafts at Keswick museum – details for 2026

Join the learning team in the Crosthwaite Room to create your own Boo-tiful, spooktacular clay gargoyle – or whatever other creepy creation takes your fancy! Roll, shape, and paint your very own ghastly masterpiece and take it home at the end of the session.

Stranger Folk at Wray Castle – details for 2026
When: 19th October – 22nd November 2026 (selected dates
The spirit and human worlds are colliding. Sneaky Goblins, cunning Boggarts and Stranger Folk are slipping through the crack to stir up trouble. Gather your team, harness the elements and seal the rift before the creatures take hold. This is a real-world adventure for silly grown-ups and spirited kids to play together at selected National Trust places. Families can work together using only one mobile phone to immerse themselves in a rich story of play and strange goings-on.
The adventure starts with a voice note from a mysterious Old Crone, who guides you. Will you answer the call and close the rift before mischief turns to mayhem?
Play for a fast-paced 20 minutes or make it a day-long adventure to pause for scones and pick up where you left off.
The app is designed for children aged 7-12 and can be downloaded for free from Apple and Google app stores. We’d encourage you to download the app ahead of your visit, although it can also be downloaded on arrival (depending on the Wi-Fi signal).

Orrest Head Halloween Trail – details for 2026

Take the Halloween trail through the woods, if you’re brave enough!
Make it to the end and there’ll be a TRICK OR TREAT waiting for you! Get cosy around the fire with toasted marshmallows. Tuck into some delicious hot dogs.
Warm up with your favourite Blacksmiths coffee & treats. And keep your eyes peeled… you never know WHO (or WHAT) might be lurking in the woods!

Halloween update to Room on the Boom trails at Grizedale and Whinlatter Forests – details for 2026
When – throughout October
Follow the trail through the forest to discover spellbinding stops filled with fun Room on the Broom activities and fascinating forest facts. Help Witch find her lost hat, bow and wand along the way and collect special ingredients to complete the spell.
These trails are fantastic for families. They keep your children entertained on a short walk. There are large boards along the trail, filled with illustrations based on the book, fun facts and activities. Young children love how these trails bring their favourite books to life.
Packs cost £4 from the visitors centre.
Visiting this Halloween? Look out for magical cauldrons along the trail throughout October. Solve the clues and complete the crossword to earn a special sticker reward.
