What to expect at The library of enchantment

Z-Arts have created an amazing family escape room which is a great addition to a location that is already fantastic for families.

The family escape room is called The library of enchantment. I’ve purposely not included too many photos or gone into a great deal of detail as I want you to get the most out of your visit.

The escape room is filled with lots of puzzles to solve and codes to crack as you might expect. The escape room is actually a series of small rooms, each themed differently but equally beautifully. All the rooms are rich with details, many of which are clues or puzzles in themselves.

Inside a family escape room

You’ll need to work together as a team to solve the clues, especially as sometimes you need to go back to previous rooms to solve new clues. I love the teamwork element, it’s a great way to spend time with tweens and younger teenagers.

You’ll have your own guide with you who will give you some rules to get you started, give you a new book in each room with your first clue and then stay quiet unless you need a little nudge in the right direction.

Where is the Z-Arts family escape room (Z escape)?

Z-Arts family escape room is on the top floor of Z-Arts which is an amazing place for families.

The address is Z-arts, 335 Stretford Road, Hulme, M15 5ZA.

What age is Z-Arts family escape room suitable for?

The escape room is designed for children 8 years old and older. You can take children who are 6 years and over if they are part of a family group.

My daughters are 6 and 9 years old. They both really enjoyed our visit. Our eldest was better able to help us solve clues. Our youngest was mostly interested in the dressing up props although she did enjoy helping us in her own way but she wouldn’t have been able to solve any of the clues.

Z-Arts have definitely got the age range right at 8 years old and over. I can imagine children older than our 9 year old enjoying it too and being able to solve more of the clues. She really enjoyed it though and did solve some puzzles herself and supported us with all of the other clues.

How Long do families typically spend in the escape room?

You have up to an hour to complete the escape room. We took the full hour to escape.

Our verdict

We loved our time in the escape room. Both of our children enjoyed the experience, although it was better suited to our eldest.

I think it is a fantastic family experience, perfect as a special treat for birthdays or other occasions. You can complete the escape room in groups of 8 which would be so much fun for a party for children of 8 or over.

Facilities at Z-Arts

As well as the escape room there is a small children’s library, theatre, cafe, gift shop and there is a space which has an immersive theatre and play exhibition for children under 8 years old. This is currently a fairy tale space and will change in 2024. Last year it was a Tiger who came to tea exhibition.

How much does it cost?

The cost depends on the number taking part. For a family of 4 it costs £72. For 8 people it is £115.
