Snowdrop walks North West

Do you enjoy seeing snowdrops on your walks? If so I’ve rounded up all the Snowdrop walks North West England in 2024 for you. Snowdrops are a really pretty plant and I know many people look forward to seeing them every year. They are usually around from late January until the end of February. Snowdrop walks Cheshire

You’ll find some specific snowdrop walks that you need to book on below as well as some National Trust properties and other gardens where I know there are snowdrops.

Rode Hall

When – 3 Feb – 2 Mar 2024. Thur – Sun 10-4pm
Admission: £7.50
Children: £3 (under 5’s free)
Family Ticket: £20 (Up to 2 adults and 3 children)
Please note RHS and HHA cards are not valid during the Snowdrop Walk

Come and see one of the finest displays of Snowdrops in the North here at Rode Hall.  Take the mile long walk in the Old Wood and marvel at the carpets of Snowdrops, then follow the path down by The Pool to catch a glimpse of the herons on Birthday Island.  Dogs on leads welcome.

Arley Hall

When – no specific dates

Expect to see snowdrops on the woodland walk when they are in season.

Norton Priory

You can expect to see them in various areas of Norton priory.

Quarry Bank Mill NT

You can expect to see snowdrops in the gardens and woodlands.

Hare Hill NT

When – open Wednesday – Sunday from 14th February 2024.

Expect to lots of snow drops in the woods and walled gardens at Hare Hill.

Family snowdrop trail at Ness Botanic gardens

When – 3rd – 25th February 2024

Enjoy a winter stroll and keep the children busy exploring some amazing things around the gardens.

All the family will enjoy following this 40-minute trail to discover our beautiful snowdrops and other natural sights around the garden.

Lyme Park NT

When – no specific dates

You’ll find snowdrops around the gardens and wider estate.

Lovell Quinta Arboretum

Where – Swettenham

When – Snowdrop day is Sunday 18th February 2024 or you can walk here every day.

This garden is owned and managed by Tatton garden society. Free entry form members or £2.50 donation for non-members.

Here are some National Trust and RHS gardens which we visit frequently and I saw snow drops last year.

Dunham Massey NT

When – no specific dates

Dunham Massey is a beautiful place to walk and there are lots of snowdrops in their gardens each year.

Snowdrop walks Lancashire

There are number of gardens that open specifically for snowdrop walks and National Trust gardens too.

A member of my Facebook family walking group mentioned that there are always loads of snowdrops around Arnside.

Lytham Hall

When – Saturday & Sunday in February 2024

A suggested minimum fundraising  donation of £1 per person will provide you with a Snowdrop map and factsheet, plus a 10% Off voucher for Hall Tours.

As well as the vast swathes of beautiful Snowdrops why not visit the Café, Animals, Lytham Hall Shop and Garden Centre. You will be able to purchase your own Snowdrops.

Bank Hall, Bretherton

When – 4th, 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st & 25th February 2024

The Bank Hall gardens will be open 12pm-4pm for the famous Snowdrop displays on Sundays and the first three Wednesdays in February 2024.

The Prospect Tower and Exhibition will also be open with tours at 11am and 1pm. Secure your space by pre-booking.

Clump of snowdrops

Hornby Castle snowdrop weekend

When – 17th & 18th February 2024

View the wonderful snowdrops in the borders and along the river woodland walk. As well as snowdrops, you’ll see the evergreens, coloured stems, scented shrubs and winter flowering perennials. Visit the Walled Garden where you can see over 70 different varieties of snowdrop in flower in the winter borders.

Rufford Old Hall NT

When – no specific dates

This is another National Trust advertised as having snowdrops on display.

Snowdrop walks Liverpool

Here you’ll find a woodland and a National Trust where you can expect to see lots of snowdrops.

Otterspool woodland

When – no specific dates

Free, woodland walk. You can enjoy lovely family walks here and expect to see snowdrops and bluebells when they are in season.

Speke Hall NT

When – no specific dates

You can expect to see lots of snowdrops in the woods and gardens at Speke Hall.

Snowdrop walks Cumbria

There are various National Trust gardens that are filled with snowdrops. I have heard that Grizedale forest is always a great place to see snowdrops.

Snowdrop weekends at Acorn Bank

When – 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd February & 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th March 2025

The café, watermill, second-hand bookshop and gardens will also be open so you can enjoy a wander and a bite to eat. Plus crafting, den building, family fun and vintage book sales – find more information below.

Windowsill salad seed sowing: 1 & 2 February and 15 & 16 February, 11am-12pm & 2-3pm. Meet outside the Dovecote and learn to sow a tray of salad seeds. Then take it home to watch the magic happen!

Self-led den building and trail setting: every weekend in February, 11am-3pm. Find the materials you need to build your own den from natural woodland materials and set a trail for your family and friends to follow. The Visitor Welcome team will point you in the right direction once you arrive.

Block printing: 8 & 9 February and 22 & 23 February, 11am-3pm. Here’s a chance to take home printed artwork of the nature that surrounds Acorn Bank – join our volunteers in the Dovecote.

Sizergh castle

When – no specific dates

This is a great National Trust in the south lakes where you can see snowdrops in the gardens.
