February half term is fast approaching. If you’re in the Lancashire region and looking for ideas for things to do with kids then you need to read this February half term Lancashire events 2026 guide. Find more February half term North West guides here.

February Festival of Circus and Magic, Blackpool

Mudfest. Martin Mere WWT
When – 14th – 22nd February 2026.
Get stuck in with a mud obstacle course, mud show, wild crafts, and mud kitchen! We’ll also be returning with the North West Puddling Jumping Championships.
With hands-on activities for all ages and abilities, everyone can connect with nature and discover the magical powers of mud for wildlife and play.

Fylde ice festival, St Annes
When – 14th February 2026
Glacial Art ice sculptors are back, this time in the centre of St Annes. Includes live ice carving demo and pre carved, St Anne’s themed ice sculptures . There’ll also be an ice carving wall to have a go myself.

Mrs Dowsons Indoor Play
When – 14th – 22nd February 2026.
Have you experienced the huge indoor playground at Mrs Dowsons? Well February half term is the perfect time to visit. The farm will not be open but the playground is epic!

The Dino Adventure at East Lancashire Railway

The Wizarding Adventure at East Lancashire Railway
When – 19th February 2026.
Take a wacky and wonderful whistle stop tour of the Wizard Academy and learn to become a master of mystery and magic alongside a faculty of eccentric enchanters.
During this interactive experience you’ll take lessons in the basics of broomsticks, practice your potion making, be instructed in incantations and learn to tattle and talk with a tawny owl.

Travel to Wonderland at East Lancashire Railway

It’s time to take a tumble down the Rabbit Hole for a curious adventure through Wonderland with Alice and her friends.

Bird box build at Fairhaven Lake, Lytham St Annes

Join the Fairhaven Team, Fylde Rangers and Volunteers at our popular annual Bird Box Build. Work together, enhance your practical skills and walk away with your own bird box in time for spring. All materials are provided with assistance from our team if required. Under 16’s must be closely supervised by an adult at all times.

Pirate Adventure! Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve
When – 18th February 2026
Yo Ho Ho! Join Captain Flint and the Mere Sands Wood Pirates this half term for a swashbuckling adventure! Make your own sword and become part of the scurvy crew hunting for the hidden treasure. Help to build the Jolly Roger and get ready for battle with Long John Silver. It’s a Pirate’s life for you!
Tickets are £9 per child (for children up to 12 years). Accompanying adults and children over 12 enter free, but please still book a ticket then we can keep track of numbers. Any individuals over 12 who wish to take part in activities must have a child’s ticket purchased.

Hoghton tower’s school of witchcraft & wizardry
When – 18th – 22nd February 2026.
Calling all eager witches and wizards! Embrace your imagination in our brand new immersive story telling adventure. This half term, enrol your little monsters in the Hoghton Tower School of Witchcraft & Wizardry to begin a new adventure. Our magical professors will teach you how to cast spells, brew exploding potions and practise broomstick racing. A spellbinding session full of mystery, magic and mischief awaits you!
Suitable for children age 7-12 years old. The activity is not suitable for children under 7. We regret that younger children are unable to spectate due to space restrictions and the content.
All children must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket at all times. Due to the space required for the activities, we can only allow a maximum of 1 adult per child.

The Sooty Show, The Lowther Pavilion Theatre
When – 16th February 2026.
Sooty heads into town in a spectacular new show to delight the whole family! Joining the nations favourite bear will be the legendary Sweep and Soo.
Sooty’s guests include favourites Butch, Ramsbottom and Scampi . Completing the crew will be children’s comedy star Russ Brown and direct from Blackpool Tower Circus -Michael Jordan.
Expect wonderful wizardry, Thrills and spills and of course lots and lots laughs with Sooty, Sweep and Soo- but watch out for Sooty’s supercharged water pistol!!

Join the Witch of Samlesbury Hall for a fun, interactive experience for children this half term.
Learn all about the witch’s life story in the Great Hall, as a roaring fire casts flickering light on her magic cauldron, then discover how herbs and simple everyday items were used to crate charms and magic potions in the past.

Unicorn Live! Blackburn Empire Theatre

Forest school family fun, Brockholes
When – 20th February 2026
Sessions are suitable for children of all ages, who love the outdoors and enjoy nature. We offer the space and freedom to play, explore and connect with the natural environment whilst facilitating fun activities your child may want to join in with, such as den building, scavenger hunts, making tree spirits and natural crafts.
Tickets are £9.50 per child. Accompanying adults and children over 12 enter free, but please still book a ticket then we can keep track of numbers. Any children over 12 who wish to take part in activities must have a child’s ticket purchased.
Children must be accompanied by an adult for this session.

February Half Term Xplorer at Brockholes
When – 14th – 22nd February 2026
Explore Brockholes, find the markers, complete the challenge and have fun together! Brought to you in partnership with British Orienteering, Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity to get the whole family outside in the fresh air together! There are certificates for those completing the challenge along with a sweet treat!
There are 2 courses available:
Challenge 1
The markers you need to find are located on or next to surfaced paths and the route is pram friendly. The markers are in number order and form a circular route and is perfect for those who are new to Brockholes or to orienteering or visiting with younger children.
Challenge 2
This course represents more of a challenge and you will need to use your navigation skills to track down the markers located across the reserve! Not suitable for prams.
You can decide on which course you do on the day.
This is an outdoor activity. You will need to come dressed for the weather conditions wearing sturdy footwear. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Each map pack contains – One map (either challenge 1 or 2), one answer sheet, a Brockholes Pencil and full instructions. On completion you will receive the answers, a certificate and a sweet treat!
