Now obviously I haven’t visited every one of these but I have visited a few and I hope to visit more this summer. These all come recommended though by the members of my Facebook group for families in the North West.
Sugarfinery, Windermere

Here you’ll find 18 different flavours of luxury ice cream from The Milking parlour (see below). You’ll fins tubs, cones and other options at this luxury dessert bar.

The little ice cream shop, Hawkshead, Bowness and Windermere
Locations – Hawkshead, Bowness and Windermere
Now this one we have been to the Hawkshead branch and I can say it is delicious ice cream. They serve 22 flavours of luxury gelato made in the Lake District.

Kimi’s Gelato, Kendal

Kimi’s make an ever changing list of flavours of gelato with the finest ingredients. They have their own purpose built gelato laboratory!

Abbott Lodge Jersey ice cream, Clifton
Location – Abbott Lodge Jersey Ice Cream, Clifton, Nr Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 2HD
Abbott lodge creat 30 different flavours of ice cream from the milk of their jersey cows. You’ll find 16 flavours at any time in the parlour.
Ice cream logs and chocolate coated bombs available on request.
You’ll find a lovely outdoor play area for kids too and an indoor one too!

Hales sell 77 flavours of ice cream and this is always increasing too! You can also purchase milkshakes, sundaes, nachos and slush.

Roy’s ices, Bardsea beach
Location – Bardsea Beach, Ulverston
This was a very popular choice when I asked for ice cream places in Cumbria on Facebook. This ice cream van has over 20 flavours of ice cream to choose from!

The milking parlour, Kirby Lonsdale
Location – 1 Jingling court, Kirby Lonsdale, LA6 2FD
Here you’ll find artisan ice cream made on the family farm in Burrow. They are passionate about seasonal produce and have a range of ever changing flavours. They also sell freshly made waffles and ice cream milkshakes.

The Cumbrian Cow, Ulverston
Location – Ulverston, LA12 9SE
This is a farm drive-through ice cream parlour. The ice cream is made from the Holstein herd of cows on their farm. You can find a wide range of flavoured ice cream, ice bergers and coffees.

This is an ice cream parlour and waffle house. The menue changes weekly and includes ice cream, churrps, waffles, hot chocolates, hot cookie dough, crepes, milkshakes, coffee and speciality teas.

This is a family run ice cream maker since 1931 with a vast selection of flavours. They have 60 flavours!
